“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” –Jesus (John 20)
It is a fundamental reality that the Church is a sent people. We’ve come to understand over the last several months that just as the Father sent Jesus, so has Jesus sent us, the Church, to serve the world. Fellowship does not exist for itself, it exists for the world. We are called out, set apart, and sent not as a vendor of religious goods, but as people for God’s liberation and restoration movement.
We realize that even at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, He called out and gathered a group of people to send them on mission.
So too has Jesus called out and gathered us together to send on mission to serve the world.
In fact, while we may, and often will, fail and disappoint Him, our role is crucial to the achievement God’s mission. For it is through this flawed and vulnerable group of people that God is (some how) establishing His kingdom.
While we are already doing some things locally, regionally, and globally we’re in the processes of dreaming how that exactly looks to partner with God by serving the world around us. So join with us in dreaming what it means to join God by serving and loving others in the Way of Jesus Christ.
